Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15th June 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how Balfour Editions LLP, trading as Balfour Collection (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit balfourcollection.art, place an order, or interact with us. We are the data controller for your personal data. Balfour Collection is operated by Balfour Editions LLP of 54 Ashburnham Mansions, Ashburnham Road, London, SW10 0PB, UK. For any privacy question, contact us at support@balfourcollection.art. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number [ICO number].

1. The personal data we collect

•     Identity & contact details: your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses.

•     Order & transaction data: the items you buy, order value, delivery details, returns and correspondence about your order.

•     Payment data: payments are processed by our payment providers; we receive confirmation and limited details but we do not store your full card number.

•     Account & marketing data: any account you create, your marketing preferences, and your responses to our emails.

•     Content you provide: photographs of your room you send us for a “see it in your room” mock-up, reviews, and photos or comments you choose to share.

•     Technical & usage data: IP address, device and browser type, and how you use our site, collected via cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).

2. How we collect it

•     Directly from you — when you order, create an account, request a mock-up, leave a review, subscribe, or contact us.

•     Automatically — through cookies, pixels and analytics when you use the site (subject to your consent).

•     From third parties — our payment providers, and advertising/analytics platforms that help us measure and improve our marketing.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

5. International transfers

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States, so your data may be transferred internationally. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (where the provider is certified) or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect your data to UK standards.

6. How long we keep it

•     Order and transaction records: kept for six years after the relevant tax year, to meet accounting and tax obligations.

•     Account and marketing data: until you close your account or unsubscribe; we then keep a minimal suppression record so we can honour your opt-out.

•     Room photos sent for mock-ups: deleted within [3 months] of your request unless you ask us to keep them or agree we may feature them.

•     Analytics data: retained for the period set by each analytics provider.

•     Enquiries and support messages: kept for [2 years] unless related to an order or a legal matter.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access your data; have it corrected; have it erased; restrict or object to its processing; data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time (including unsubscribing from marketing). To exercise any right, email support@balfourcollection.art; we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. We'd appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, and our store and payments run on secure, encrypted (HTTPS) infrastructure provided by Shopify and our payment partners. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.

9. Children

Our site and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. United States — your privacy rights (California and other states)

If you are a US resident, the following applies in addition to the above, to the extent US state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, and comparable laws in other states) apply to us. As a small UK-based business we may fall below the thresholds at which some of these laws formally apply, but we honour the core choices below for our US customers regardless.

Categories of personal information. In the past 12 months we may have collected: identifiers (such as name, email, postal address, phone number and IP address); commercial information (such as products purchased); internet and device activity (such as how you use our site, via cookies); approximate location (from your IP address); and any images you send us for a room mock-up. We collect these for the purposes set out in section 3.

“Sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell your personal information for money. However, our use of advertising cookies and pixels (Meta, Google and Pinterest) may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising under California and comparable state laws.

Your rights. Subject to the applicable state law, you have the right to:

•     Know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you;

•     Delete your personal information;

•     Correct inaccurate personal information;

•     Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for targeted advertising;

•     Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use sensitive personal information for advertising); and

•     Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

How to opt out and exercise your rights. To opt out of sale/sharing, use the “Your Privacy Choices” (Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information) link in our footer, set your preferences in our cookie banner, or email us — and we honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out. To exercise any other right, email support@balfourcollection.art; we will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires (generally 45 days in California). You may use an authorised agent. Under California's “Shine the Light” law, we confirm that we do not share your personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be notified on this page.
